The Museum’s Mk 9 made an important trip out today from another one of our storage locations in the county to support the Beckingham Transport Rally. The event brings together a wide range of automobiles of all shapes, sizes and purposes to raise funds for the Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance Service. This can range from small classic Minis, heavily modified cars, campers, high performance cars, all the way up to some pretty impressive classic buses and our very own Mk 9.

Of all of our larger vehicles, the Green Mk 9 has been the most reliable and regularly starts straight off the button without as much of a cough or splutter in complaint. A quick wash down and blacken of the tyres was more than adequate preparation for its first outing in some months and it was soon roaring down the road, making its presence known as only a Mk 9 can. The event was a fantastic opportunity to showcase the vehicle to public whilst helping to raise funds for what is undoubtedly an essential service which has launched over 26,000 times since it started operations in 1994, undoubtedly saving many hundreds of lives.

Well done to the team who organised the rally – we hope the event was a roaring success.
